The Sierra Community Chorus is a "community" chorus, not just because our members come from the community, but because we care about our larger community. On November 14, 2009, we performed at The Gathering Inn's 3rd Annual Holiday Festival, Splendor of the Trees. This holiday event is hosted by RC Willey in Rocklin, with all proceeds going to help the homeless of Placer County. On Oct. 4-5, 2008 we partnered for the second time with Adventure Christian Church of Roseville and Auburn Grace Community Church for two concerts to benefit The Gathering Inn and Acres of Hope. And then on Nov. 21, 2008 we gave a free public concert at Quarry Ponds in Granite Bay. In the past we have sung at retirement homes, at Veterans Day observances, at the Los Lagos Garden Party, and at other community events. We have performed at the Roseville Galleria in connection with their holiday program, and we have volunteered to man the phones at KVIE's pledge drives. In the spring of 2007 we gave a benefit concert for the Auburn Placer Performing Arts Center, which is remodeling Auburn's old State Theater into a state-of-the-art performance facility. In addition, we have occasionally performed major classical works, sometimes in collaboration with other musical organizations. |
